PCG rescues 3 fishermen

Three fishermen were rescued after they got into a sea accident off Pulupandan, Negros Occidental over the weekend, the Philippine Coast Guard said Monday.

The fishermen were identified as Manuel U. Morales, 39; Carlo M. Nunal, 34; and Mark John C. Mallorca, 29, all are residents of Barangay Zone 6, Palupandan, Negros Occidental.

They were clinging on their capsized fishing boat marked as "2 Brothers" when rescue team from the Coast Guard Substation (CGSS) Pulupandan found them.

According to Ric Bautista, deployable response personnel of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the trio departed Purok Mahigugma-on, Barangay Patic, Pulupandan around 9 a.m. Saturday for a fishing venture.

The fishermen told authorities that while they were underway, they encountered big waves and strong winds causing their boat to capsize.

At about 12 noon of the same day, the rescued fishermen were sent back to their respective homes. No one was reported injured.
