SARIAYA, Quezon — A businesswoman was gunned down at close range by two unidentified assailants wearing hooded jackets the other night at the Sentrong Pamilihan in Barangay Sampaloc 2, this town.
Police said Isabelita Gunay dela Cruz, 46, a resident of Barangay Bucal, here, was shot dead by two gunmen while standing in front of a stall at the market.
Investigation showed Dela Cruz was talking to stall owner, Imelda Quia, when the assailants came from behind her and shot her.
The duo then walked over to a motorcycle parked about five meters away and drove off in the direction of Candelaria town.
Homicide probers said that by the looks of the bullet wounds sustained by the victim, there was really an intention to kill her.
A deformed slug was lifted at the crime scene, but its caliber is still being verified by experts.
