Leader of gun-for-hire group arrested

QUEZON, Nueva Ecija -- An alleged notorious gun-for-hire group operating in Nueva Ecija and adjacent provinces was busted after the police arrested Friday its leader and confiscated illegal guns and bullets from him.

In a report to Chief Supt. Amador V Corpus, regional director, said joint operatives of Nueva Ecija police and Regional Mobile Force 3 implemented search warrant which resulted in the arrest of Douglas Javier, resident of Sitio Banana, Brgy. Sta. Rita, Quezon, Nueva Ecija, of Del Rosario Criminal Group.

Said group is engaged in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities in the province of Nueva Ecija and adjacent provinces, police said.

Confiscated during the operation were one 12 gauge shotgun, one caliber 22 rifle and several assorted ammunitions.

The successful arrest of Javier was a result of the PNP's relentless surveillance and joint intelligence-driven operations.

Corpus lauded the operating troops for a job well done and he directed all police provincial and city offices to conduct an obstinate, efficient campaign and advocacy by implementing a wide-ranging proactive approach/strategy on their campaign against lawless elements.
