Forest fire

DAVAO CITY -- Firefighters rushed to Tamayong District in Davao City after a forest fire hit a portion of the upland area Wednesday afternoon. The message was relayed to reporters in the afternoon after Central 911 alerted citizens about the incident before noon.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Operations Center and Central 911 were still coordinating fire suppression measures as of press time.

"Initial assessment showed that more than seven to 15 hectares of forest land are slowly being consumed by fire," the City Information Office said. Already on site were Fire Auxiliary Service personnel from Central 911 and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection.  (Yas D. Ocampo)
