Monsoon rains continue over Metro Manila, parts of Luzon

MANILA -- The southwest monsoon affecting Luzon and Visayas will continue to bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative Region, central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will experience monsoon rains. Residents of these areas are also warned of possible flooding and landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

Southwest monsoon will also cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong to gale winds will blow over the western part of Luzon. Its coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Over Mindanao, moderate to occasionally strong winds will prevail with moderate to occasionally rough seas.

PAGASA said tropical storm "Karding" (Yagi) already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It was last eyed at 625 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon, outside PAR. (PNA)
