3 women, 2 nabbed

Five people, including three women, were nabbed during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted in Navotas City Monday night.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Yolanda Guillean, 50, jobless; Orlando Tubat, 50, helper; Miriam Julian, 44, jobless; Rosete Joel, 40, fisherman; and Alejandro Dayon, 23, helper.

The target of the operation was Guillean as the authorities had received reports about her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Operatives from the Northern Police District's drug enforcement and special operation units then launched a buy-bust operation against Guillean.

Guillean was arrested after she transacted with an undercover cop around 8:30 p.m. in Barangay NBBN. A sachet of shabu and buy-bust money worth P500 were recovered from her, police said.

Meanwhile, the four others were also put behind bars after they were caught sniffing shabu inside a drug den in the area.

An empty plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were recoveredly seized from them.

On June 13, twelve people, including an AWOL Caloocan police officer who was caught allegedly sniffing shabu, were also nabbed by the same team during a drug sting conducted in the same area. (Kate Javier)

Man shot in computer shop

A man who was playing computer games was shot dead by still unidentified assailant in North Caloocan Sunday night.

Investigators identified the victim as Christopher Aculina, 38, jobless, of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan. He sustained gunshot wound in the head.

Aculina was inside a computer shop along Phase 2 in Barangay 176 when an unidentified man arrived and shot him around 7:30 p.m.

The suspect was described as 40-50 years old, 5"8 in height, wearing black jacket, denim pants and bull cap, police said.

The gunman immediately fled while Aculina was brought to Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Facebook used to peddle marijuana

An alleged notorious marijuana dealer, and his courier, believed to be supplying marijuana to students through Facebook, were apprehended in Pasig City Sunday afternoon, a belated report said yesterday.

Police identified the suspects as Anselle Rivera, 25, of Barangay Palatiw; and courier, Patrick John Magalona , 20,of Barangay Pinagbuhatan.

Eastern Police District (EPD) received a tip from their Facebook page about the illegal transaction of the suspects.

The concerned citizen told the cops that Rivera and Magalona use Facebook to peddle marijuana to students in Pasig City, PO3 Gab Deligente, EPD Public Information Office staff, said.

Investigation showed that at 3:30 p.m., joint operatives of District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) and District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) transacted with Rivera and Magalona at No. 145 on MH Del Pilar St. in Barangay Palatiw.

After undercover agents handed the marked money to the suspects, other cops went out and arrested them.

Seized from Rivera and Magalona were P60,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves.

Police said they also found five kilos of high grade marijuana inside the house of Rivera. It had an estimated value of P500,000.

Rivera, police said, has been selling marijuana online for more than five years. His customers, according to him, were mostly students.

The drug dealer said that the confiscated five kilos of marijuana came from the Mountain Province. (Jel Santos)
