Catalina Prado, a laser technician in Oman, took a regular white taxi from NAIA Terminal 1 but being charged by driver Rodel Ormillo a flat rate of P1,700 for Muntinlupa area.

She asked to be transferred to another cab. The taxi driver agreed and quickly unloaded her bag and sped away.

Airport police said that when the passenger began counting her bags, she noticed that her black backpack was missing.

She went to the IID and filed a complaint at the Airport Terminal Police Section, where airport police personnel traced the taxi cab bearing plate number ABC 1130, and eventually found the driver and the victim’s belongings.

On July 19, the IID team went to San Isidro, Rizal and coordinated with the barangay officials and accosted Ormillo who initially denied having the backpack in his possession but later admitted that he left the bag in a friend’s house.

Charges of robbery were filed against the driver at the Pasay City’s Prosecutor’s office.
