Two drug personalities killed after buy bust turned into shootout
Two alleged drug personalities were killed after a buy bust turned into a shootout in Quezon City early Saturday.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the slain suspects as Angelito Golimlim, alias "Kusa," 45, and his companion only known as "Jun," who was described to be in late 20s with word "Sputnik" tattooed on his back.
Investigation showed that operatives of QCPD-Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a drug sting against the duo who are known illegal drug peddlers in their area.
An undercover police officer met with the two men along an alley at the corner of San Ignacio Street and Villareal Street in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City around 2:40 a.m.
Upon consuming the deal, the police poseur-buyer gave a signal to backup operatives who went to the area and introduced themselves to the suspects as policemen.
However, instead of surrendering, the two men pulled out their handgun and shot it out with the responding officers.
The two suspects were eventually killed by the police officers who retaliated.
Cursory investigation showed the two men died due to multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies.
Recovered from the suspects were two revolvers, two coin purses containing 13 sachets of suspected shabu, ammunitions, and the marked money. (Alexandria San Juan)
SK ‘kagawad’ nabbed for drug possession
A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad was arrested Friday night for alleged possession of illegal drugs in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the suspect as Renato Garcia, 23, an SK kagawad from Tondo, Manila. Meanwhile, his cohort identified as Danilo Filler, 49, was also arrested, police said.
The Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Jose Abad Santos Station (PS-7) conducted a buy-bust operation on July 13 at around 6:25 p.m. along Batangas St. in Tondo, Manila against the suspects.
After the drug transaction, arresting officers immediately apprehended the suspects and brought the drug evidence to the MPD-Crime Laboratory Office for safekeeping.
Authorities seized three pieces of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P800 from the suspects, who will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Hans Amancio)
Two teens in most wanted list nabbed in separate police ops
Two teenagers, included in the Most Wanted list of the Raxabago Police Station (PS-1), were arrested during separate police operations Friday night in Manila, police said.
Police identified the suspects as Marco Pinto, 19, and "Andres," 16, both of Tondo, Manila.
"Andres" was reportedly listed as the Top 6 Most Wanted Person of PS-1 while Pinto was ranked as the fifth most wanted.
Arresting officers from PS-1 nabbed Pinto on July 13 at 8:30 a.m. along Capulong St., Tondo, Manila by virtue of warrant of arrest issued on January 26 by Judge Carolina Icasiano of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18.
Meanwhile, elements of the Pritil Police Community Precinct and Intelligence Operatives of PS-1 arrested "Andres" on July 13 at around 2:30 p.m. along Maharlika St. in Tondo, Manila by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Rosalyn Mislos-Loja of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 41.
Police said that Pinto is wanted for a rape case while "Andres" is wanted for attempted murder. (Hans Amancio)
12 people including AWOL cop arrested in Navotas drug sting
Twelve people, including an AWOL Caloocan police officer who was caught allegedly sniffing shabu, were nabbed during a drug sting conducted in Navotas City Friday night.
PO2 Michael Del Monte was among the 12 drug suspects who were put behind bars following an operation launched by the Northern Police District at Market 3 around 11:30 p.m.
Del Monte was assigned at Caloocan City Police Community Precinct 4 before he went AWOL last month, Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Restituto Arcangel said.
Initial investigation showed that joint operatives from the district's special operation and drug enforcement units conducted a buy-bust operation against 33-year-old Romeo Santiago and his mother Melenia, 53.
According to Inspector Danilo Songalia who led the operation, the mother and son were notorious drug pushers in the area.
Seized from them were a caliber .38 revolver with ammunition and packs of suspected shabu weighing 40 grams with street value of less than P100,000.
Songalia said they then caught 10 people, including Del Monte, allegedly having pot session inside an alleged drug den adjacent to Santiago's house. Sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were found in the scene.
Del Monte admitted being a drug dependent but denied being a drug peddler. Recovered from him was his service 9mm firearm.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the 12 drug suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, Del Monte will also face an administrative case, police said. (Kate Javier)
Two men trying to rob motorcycle rider killed in gunfight with cops
Two men who was about to rob a motorcycle rider and take his vehicle in Quezon City died after engaging in a shootout with policemen who spotted them early Saturday.
Members of Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit described the fatalities, which have yet to be identified, as in their early 20s and mid 30s both wearing black jackets.
According to the victim, Stephen Bermudez, he was riding his motorcycle along NIA Road near BIR Gate in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City at around 2:10 a.m. when two men flagged him down.
When he stopped, the suspects approached him then pointed a gun at him and declared the heist.
The duo forcibly took Bermudez's sling bag, and his motorcycle.
Meanwhile, operatives of Quezon City District Field Unit of PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group were patrolling in the area when they noticed a commotion between three men on a dim portion of NIA Road.
While approaching the men, the victim sought help from the responding officers saying he was being robbed.
However, when they were about to introduce themselves, the duo opened fire, prompting officers to retaliate killing the suspects.
Police were able to recover from the suspects a caliber .22 revolver, a 9mm pistol, a caliber .38 handgun and 16 sachets of suspected shabu. (Alexandria San Juan)
Serving of arrest warrant turns bloody due to shootout
A serving of an arrest warrant turned bloody after a drug personality was killed when he fired at the arresting officers on Friday in Taguig City.
The suspect was identified as Sony Santos, who has a standing warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Santos died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the report submitted to Taguig City Police Chief Senior Supt. Tomas Apolinario, the shooting incident transpired at about 3:50 p.m. on Friday.
Personnel from the Police Community Precinct 5 came to the house of Santos to serve the warrant of arrest at Barangay Napindan, Taguig City,
Police said that as they entered the gate of the house, they were immediately fired at by the suspect forcing them to retaliate. A brief shootout between Santos and the policemen which later resulted in the death of the suspect.
One of the police officers, PO1 Sahraman Azura Hadjitalip was hit in the chest but was fortunately wearing a bulletproof vest.
Records show that the suspect is a known drug pusher in Taguig City and other nearby cities and is also included in the Taguig City Police Station's illegal drugs watchlist with two standing arrest warrants for violation of RA 9165. (Dhel Nazario)
