This was bared by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Jose Arturo Garcia Friday.

“This is aimed at preventing accidents and address heavy traffic caused by trucks along the thoroughfare,” he said.

The Metro Manila Accident Recording and Analysis System (MMARAS) 2017 statistical report for trucks and trailers crashes showed that at least 155 damage to property incidents and eight injuries were recorded.

The one-truck lane policy states that cargo trucks with a gross weight of more than 4,500 kilos will only be allowed to use the C2 Road’s third lane from the sidewalk except at Nagtahan, which is second lane from the median or center island.

Based on MMDA's annual daily traffic (ADDT) last year, at least 6,939 trucks and trailer trucks were plying along the road, saying the average number of existing lanes is four lanes per direction.

The Metro Manila Council (MMC), composed of mayors in the metropolis, on Thursday has given green light for the enforcement of the policy.

MMDA said one-truck lane policy is also being implemented along C5 Road, Katipunan Avenue, Congressional Road, Mindanao Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard.
