The Archdiocese of Caceres in Camarines Sur said it is "deeply troubled" that a priest has been alluded to in media reports as a "person of interest" in the gruesome death of a 28-year old female.

"We hold the report very serious," Father Darius Romualdo, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Caceres, said in a statement.

"The Archdiocese supports and will fully cooperate with the thorough investigation of the case by the proper authority,” he added.

According to the archdiocese, they are shocked and saddened by the gruesome death of the victim found dead at San Fernando, Camarines Sur last June 15.

It said the archdiocese is conducting its own investigation.

"The Archdiocese, at the moment, is conducting its own investigation and will take appropriate action in accordance with the Code of Canon Law," said Romualdo.

“At this time that we are searching for the truth, we ask for prayers and prudence,” he added.

The archdiocese also assured the family of the victim of their prayers and support in the search for justice.

Last week, the lifeless body of a female was found dumped in a grassy portion of Maharlika Highway at Del Pilar, San Fernando in Camarines Sur.

A still unnamed priest has been tagged as a person of interest in the killing.
