AFP assures security in Iligan, Lanao del Norte after Tubaran encounter

ILIGAN CITY -- The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Philippine Army assured the safety of Iligan City and the province of Lanao del Norte residents after the recent encounter between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Maute-ISIS group in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur, last Sunday.

Brigade Commander Robert C. Dauz said the military is always on alert with the help of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to watch over the security of its area of responsibility.

Dauz added that their security measures were in place, entry and exit points were given priorities to make sure that what happen in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur will be prevented here.

Dauz also commended the public reactions for their concern of whats happening around especially in the issue of peace and security.

The public's vigilant to report on the presence of any suspicious activities of individuals will help them much more with the arm forces efforts in securing their area, so that what happened in Marawi last May 23 last year will be prevented, explained Dauz.

It might be recalled that many civilians were being displaced after a five-month-long Marawi siege and after the AFP ran after the Maute-ISIS group that would want to influence the constituents of their different ideology.
