Naga City, Camarines Sur —The president of the Municipal Trial Court Judges League of the Philippines and presently the MTC Judge of San Jose and Lagonoy, Camarines Sur was shot dead by his cousin Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Sta Maria, Presentacion town.
The victim was identified as Judge Ricky Begino, 49.
He was shot dead by Wilfredo Armea, 72, who surrendered to the police yesterday.
According to Senior Inspector Bernardo Penero, chief of police of Presentacion, the victim was shot by the suspect some 15 meters away from his residence.
“Biglang nilapitan ng suspek at doon na bumunot ng baril, gamit ang Super Caliber 38 at saka binaril saka tumakas (The suspect approached the victim and drew his gun, a Super Caliber 38, shot the vitim and then escaped),” Penero told the Manila Bulletin.
Begino was immediatley brought to NICC Doctors Hospital in Naga City, some 80 kilometers away.
He expired while being revived at the hospital.
At around 8:30 a.m. on yesterday, the suspect voluntarily surrendered and owned up to the crime.
