LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte -- A moderately strong tectonic earthquake with a strength of 4.5 magnitude in the Richter scale rocked some areas in the extreme Northern Luzon on the late afternoon on Wednesday but it did not cause any damage to properties.

Local Phivolcs office reported the quake occurred at 5:12 PM with epicenter at 18 kilometers northwest of Marcos, Ilocos Norte with a depth of 25 kilometers.
Intensity 4 felt in the towns of Paoay, Bacarra, and Pasuquin, all in Ilocos Norte; intensity 3 in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; and in Laoag City and Batac, both in Ilocos Norte; intensity 2 in Claveria, Cagayan and in Vigan City; and intensity 1 in Penablanca, Cagayan.
The quake was tectonic in origin but it didn’t cause any aftershock.
