A low-pressure area (LPA) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to cause rains over parts of the archipelago, the state weather bureau said today.

The LPA was last tracked at some 580 km. east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms caused by the LPA. These areas were also warned of possible flooding or landslides.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, on the other hand, will prevail over the Mindoro provinces due to the trough of an LPA. Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will also prevail over Palawan, the rest of Visayas and of Mindanao, but these are due to the ITCZ.
Localized thunderstorms will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally strong winds will blow over Western Visayas, Palawan, and Mindanao. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, said PAGASA.
