Iloilo City—There are fewer barangays in Iloilo province that are considered as election hotspots.

The Iloilo Provincial Joint Security Command Center (PJSCC) identified 28 barangays as Election Watchlist Areas (EWAs), down from 88 barangays.

The PJSCC, composed of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Iloilo provincial police and the Philippine Army’s 301st Infantry Brigade (301 IB), listed the barangays based on reports of election-related violence as well as the presence of New People’s Army (NPA).

Elizabeth Doronila, Comelec chief for Iloilo province, said many of the barangays are in the First and Third Districts, and one is in the Fifth District.
