Valenzuela City's first solar-powered clean water system, which can be used during calamities, was inaugurated recently.

The facility, located in Del Rosario Compound, Barangay Coloong, was funded by the Foundation for the Development for the Urban People (FDUP).

The city government said the water system will be useful during calamities and other disasters where electricity is unstable or unavailable, making access to electricity and potable water possible despite emergencies.

Dr. Arnaldo Antonio of Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that despite being surrounded by water, the village lacks access to safe, potable water, which is why it was identified as one of the beneficiaries of the project together with Barangay Mapulang Lupa.
