Davao City – A rookie policeman from Davao del Norte accidentally killed his mother when he pulled the trigger of a gun he thought was not loaded in New Corella town, Saturday night.
PO1 Emmanuel Dumapig is now in the custody of authorities after he inadvertently shot his mother, Emma Dumapig, Saturday night in their house in Purok 1, Brgy. San Roque, New Corella, Davao del Norte.
Police Regional Office 11 said Dumapig was dry firing his gun, unaware that there was a bullet in the chamber.
The gun went off and passed through a mirror, piercing the wall of his mother's room. His mother was hit in the cheek.
The mother was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bishop Joseph Reagan Hospital in Tagum City.
The rookie cop faces a case of parricide under the revised penal code and administrative cases.
