Look into the light as Huawei introduces one of their newest super stars of 2018 – the Nova 2 Lite.

Huawei’s newest device features 5.99-inch display at 18:9 ratio. The display is certainly one of the best among the mid-range phones: Though the 720p resolution combined with the 269-pixel density isn’t the cream of the crop in screens, it is no less impressive with excellent visuals with solid vivid colors. It’s a device you’d want to binge movies on and the 3000mAh battery keeps it kicking for long hours. The FullView panel also allows impressive viewing angles.

The Nova 2 Lite features a minimalist design that, focusing on simplicity with an impressive specs sheet.

The Nova 2 Lite uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, which was designed for improved battery life to enhance camera features, fast charging, faster upload and download speeds, and improved graphics performances. Combine this with the 3GB RAM, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite is one of the fastest and most powerful mid-range phone right now.

Straight from the box the Nova 2 Lite comes with a 32GB internal storage that you can expand up to 256GB using a microSD card. Much like many previous Huawei phones, the Nova 2 Lite uses a modified version of Android 8.0, the EMUI 8.

Having a photography background, I tested the Huawei Nova 2 Lite in different environments. Both indoor and outdoor shoots produced stunning images. The colors were bright and lively, the device was smart enough to make necessary adjustments to get the right exposure, and the accuracy in detail is spot-on. The rear camera features the ever popular dual-camera setup, with each having a specific designation. The 13MP camera us used for phase detection autofocus and the 2MP camera is designed to focus more on bokeh effects. With excellent rear cameras comes an excellent front 8MP camera that captures vivid selfies, so indulge yourself with all the selfies you want.

The Nova 2 Lite has a fingerprint sensor and a face unlock. The former is impressive and remained consistent in my normal day-to-day use. There were instances such as sweat fingers that had me pressing my finger on the sensor a couple of times before working. But this is something that happens to other devices as well, even flagship models. The face unlock feature on the other hand is a welcome alternative. It’s smart and responsive, one detection of my face and the Nova 2 Lite burns to life. Even in low light areas the Nova 2 Lite was able to consistently detect my face.

How I see it, there are two reasons why you should get a Huawei Nova 2 Lite: One) If you’re a Huawei fan, you should get the P10, Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro, or you can wait a bit more for the P20 or P20 Pro. On the other hand, the Nova 2 Lite is an impressive alternative, decent price range that doesn’t compromise hardware performance. Second) If you’re searching for a new replacement for your phone – the Huawei Nova 2 Lite, is without question, a top-recommended champion.
