QC fire destroys P1M worth of property, displaces 200 families

At least 200 families were rendered homeless when a fire that reached fourth alarm razed a residential area in Quezon City Friday night.

Senior Supt. Manuel Manuel of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City said the fire started at 10:17 p.m. at the second floor of a two-story house owned by a certain Eton Tiozon on Anonas Street in Barangay Bagbag, Quezon City.

Manuel said the fire alarm quickly escalated to third alarm six minutes after it broke out. The fire reached fourth alarm at 11:13 p.m.

The blaze quickly spread to adjacent houses made of light materials affecting 200 families.

The three-hour fire burnt down 75 houses before it was declared fire out at 1:19 a.m. today.

Fire probers are still determining the cause of the blaze while estimated damage to property was pegged at P1 million.
