NLEX guard Kevin Alas will not be playing in the remaining games of the Road Warriors in the PBA Philippine Cup, and probably for the rest of the season due to an ACL tear on his right knee he sustained in Game 5 of the team's semifinal series against Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok last Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.

Alas had his knee checked by sports physician Dr. Raul Canlas yesterday and the initial diagnosis is ACL - Anterior Cruciate Ligament. The 6-foot-0 guard said he will have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI to know the severity of the injury.

"ACL tear... 8 months," Alas said in a text message to Bulletin-Tempo.

Alas, who averages almost 12 points per game this conference with almost five rebounds and three assists, sustained the injury with 40 seconds gone in Game 5 while driving to the basket against Magnolia's Paul Lee.

Magnolia went on to win the game, 87-78, for a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 is set Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
