“It has paid off handsomely,’’ the veteran actor said during a thanksgiving event ABS-CBN hosted in time for the ending of the popular evening series. “La Luna” airs its final episode tonight on primetime.

Richard said being in show business entails a lot of risk-taking, and playing Sandrino, the Supreme Vampire on “La Luna,” is just one of them.

He said he’s glad he took on the offbeat part, which happily revived his once dormant career, adding he wasn’t sure how the move would affect his career, having nurtured a wholesome, romantic image throughout his growing up years in the industry. After months of playing the dreaded yet charming-as-the-devil character, he’s happy to have taken the plunge.

Sandrino, he admitted, is a tough act to follow. The role allowed him to shine as a classy contravida and showcase his once underrated acting skills.

He trusts that his new contract with ABS-CBN shall allow him more room for creativity and challenges.

Richard is doing a movie with Angel Locsin and Angelica Panganiban for Star Cinema next.

EXPECTANT FATHER IN MARCH: Richard added that even in life, one must take risks to achieve one’s goals.

He shared with us the happy news that in March, his partner, Sarah Lahbati, is giving birth to their second child.

“We have good timing, thank God. ‘La Luna’ is ending, and I want to spend more time with my family this time,’’ he said.

He said that following a long engagement, he and Sarah are finally getting married very soon. They are planning either a beach or a mountain wedding in Sarah’s homeland, Switzerland.

THE PLOT RISES: As the dreaded apocalypse nears, can Tristan and Malia use love as their ultimate weapon to defeat Sandrino?

Tension continued to rise in the show’s last two weeks especially after Sandrino discovers that Tristan had betrayed him and sided with Malia once more. Now, the Supremo must do everything he can to stop his brother. Tristan, meanwhile, remains confident that he will emerge victorious in the end.

Since the beginning, Malia has always had the heart to love and serve as the “bagong itinakda.”

Malia defied fate when she still chose to love and be with Tristan, even if the prophecy said that he will become her arch enemy.

Meanwhile, Tristan may have succumbed to bitterness and hate once, but his heart remains pure and loving. Love has always motivated him to work hard and provide for his family.

“La Luna Sangre” is the third installment of the hit “Imortal” trilogy that in various timelines starred Piolo Pascual, Angel Locsin, and John Lloyd Cruz.
