The frontman entered the 3rd Infantry White Skull Division Recruit Training Center in Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province for his five-week basic military training and will serve in the active duty for 21 months.

There was no fanfare but fans waited outside the entrance of the army camp to send G-Dragon off. Among the stars stationed at the camp are actors Joo Won and Ji Chang Wook.

Before his enlistment, G-Dragon flew to Jeju Island to open his GD cafe called Untitled, 2017 at Jeju Shinhwa World.

It is located within the YG Republic Zone which also has the Samgeori Butcher’s Pork Charcuterie operated by YG and 3 Birds, according to the YG Life blog.

“Untitled, 2017 is a wonderful brunch café infused with G-Dragon’s identity brand, ‘Peaceminusone.' From the architectural forms which resemble the alphabets, G and D, the inside which has chairs on unique stairway, G-Dragon took active part throughout all the processes in planning the concept and designing the architecture. Come and experience the remarkable styles a world-renowned produced and artist, G-Dragon has created,” according to the Jeju Shinhwa World website.

A day before G-Dragon’s enlistment, YG Entertainment founder uploaded a group photo of him, G-Dragon, Seungri and Taeyang on Instagram with the caption ““Last dinner together for a while. Stay healthy in the army.”

Yang Hyun Suk took G-Dragon under his wings when he was just 13 years old and trained him to become a singer.

“Yang Hyun Suk made me write and compose a song every week when I was in ninth grade, and he did that for six years. I didn’t know where to begin at first, but I improve after a year. Later, I started writing songs like it’s nothing,” G-Dragon once said on TV, the blog added.

G-Dragon will be discharged from his military service on Nov. 26, 2019.
