Baguio City – The Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. once more turned this city into a soothing, virtual floral wonderland as Panagbenga Festival floats decked with ornamentals blooms in various vivid hues and celebrities in tow, made its way through the streets on a fine Sunday.
The cast of the television series “Ang Probinsyano,” led by Coco Martin, along with the appearance of Empoy Marquez and Dionesia Pacquiao injected more excitement to the annual flower festival.
A total of 11 large floats, eight smaller ones, three Hall of Famers and the local government’s own creation took part in the weekend festivities witnessed by thousands of locals and foreigners.
The big float category entries were ABS-CBN, Department of Agriculture, GMA Network, International Pharmaceutical, Inc., Jollibee Foods Corporation, Kambal Pandesal-San Miguel Mills, Inc., MC Master Siomai Hut, Inc., M. Lhuillier Financial Services, Montanosa Pastoral Resources Corp. /Porta Vaga Mall, Sitel Philippines Corporation and Taloy Norte Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Coca-Cola, Igorot Man, IPC-APTS, Maybank, Palawan Pawnshop, Pradera Verde-Lubao International Balloon and Music Festival, Saleng Garden and Universal Robina Corporation had entries in the small float category.
During the Kapihan sa Media yesterday, Mayor Mauricio Domogan, announced that Master Siomai’s entry topped the big float category, which has a P500,000 cash prize.
Second place honors went to M. Lhuillier, which will also take home P300,000 while Sitel will take home third place honors and R200,000.
In the small float category, the grand champion is Maybank (P200,000), followed by Saleng Garden-Metro Pacific (P150,000) and Coca-Cola (P100,000).
