Lucena City, Quezon — A farmer was arrested shortly after police discovered that he had allegedly left a 19-year-old girl dead inside a motel in Barangay IV, this city, last Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, identified the suspect as Manuel E. Pojado, single, a farmer and native of Barangay Manlayao, Guinyangan town who lives in Tayabas City.
Armamento identified the fatality only as Jessica or “Ica,” a resident of Barangay Dalahican, this city.
Investigation showed that Pojado checked-in at the Anahaw Motel with Ica at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday. Several minutes later, the room boy overheard a commotion inside the room occupied by the two, prompting him to call the duty guard.
As the guard was on his way, he chanced by Pojado hurriedly leaving with a bloodstained knife in his hand.
The guard accosted Pojado and called police, who found the Ica riddled with stab wounds in the neck, face, and shoulder.
During the investigation, Armamento said Pojado was found to have a pending arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 63 in Calauag, this province for frustrated homicide and a certificate of discharge from the Talipan District Jail for the crime of arson, rape, and attempted homicide in 2010.
