249 arrested in intensified MIMAROPA anti-crime drive

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – In less than a month since the assumption of a new regional director, the Police Regional Office- MIMAROPA apprehended 249 persons, mostly illegal- drug offenders, as part of intensified anti-crime campaign in the region.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup, regional director of PRO-MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro,Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) disclosed that, through the support of other law enforcement agencies, they arrested five High Value Targets (HVTs), 62 drug pushers and seven drug users after the resumption of operations on illegal drugs of the PNP while 11 most wanted persons and 175 other wanted persons were put behind jail.

Licup said the five arrested HVTs listed in the PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) watch lists were identified as Bobby L. Magturo, 41, carpenter and a resident of Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Caminawit, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Arvic G. Yap, 45, a resident of Barangay Liwanag, Odiongan Romblon; Ronald A. Austria, 32, a resident of Barangay Corong Corong, El Nido, Palawan; Isagani S. Gelindon, 54, jobless and resident of Barangay Paclasan, Roxas Oriental Mindoro; and Ester C. Mabagos, who was arrested in San Jose.

Licup also reported that a total of 7.2092 grams of shabu with estimated street value amounting to P72, 092, and two firearms were confiscated during the conduct of police operations while 47 drug users and 18 drug pushers voluntarily surrendered during Tokhang Operations.

On the latest accomplishments on Wanted Persons, from February 9 to 13, 2018, 17 wanted persons and three most wanted persons were arrested during the service of warrant of arrest namely: Jesus M. Bagasala alias “Sampayne”, 41, street sweeper, number 7 in the list in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro; Harold M. Manalo, 27, resident of Brgy. Leido, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro; Leopoldo A. Abrencillo Jr., 29, number 8 in Victoria.

In Oriental Mindoro, Senior Superintendent Christopher C. Birung, provincial director of Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported that they arrested a certain Reynaldo R. Montoya, 40, of Brgy. Sta. Isabel, Calapan City .for gun possession during an entrapment operation at about 4:20 p.m. last Thursday.
