Director Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo revealed that if her movie “Mr. And Mrs. Cruz” does well enough at the tills, she is raring to write and roll out part two.

“Sana maraming manood kung gusto niyong abangan ’yung second part,” she said.
A movie hinged on deep conversations between the two main characters, “Mr. And Mrs. Cruz” focuses on love, commitment and marriage. In the story, Raffy (JC Santos) and Gela (Ryza Cenon) are doing soul-searching after his fiancée became a runaway bride while she had just given up her relationship with her husband of two years. They cross paths in Palawan and eventually enjoy each other’s company.
One of Sigrid’s favorite scene in the movie shows Raffy and Gela dancing in swimming style while they were drunk. She said thar the main lesson of the film is to ensure personal in most everything you do.
“Kasi ito ’yung napagdaanan ko na at gusto ko lang sabihin na ‘Huy napagdaanan ko ’yan, malalagpasan mo ’yan,” she shared. “Kasi darating tayo sa life natin na maliligaw tayo, na nawawala tayo. At some point in our lives, may isang araw o isang beses sa buong buhay mo na mawawala ka eh at papaano mo hahanapin ’yun?
“Kasi dumating din ’yun sa akin eh. I’m sure dumating din sa ibang tao so gusto ko lang sabihin sa mga tao na ‘It’s okay.’ Okay lang mawala ka ngayon kasi pagdadaanan mo pa rin ’yan pero ang importante kahit matagal mong mahanap ang sarili mo, ang importante ’yung kasiyahan mo more than anyone else...”
Still, she cleared the film is not all about pag-ibig.
“This is about finding yourself. Nagkataon lang ’yung dalawa wasak nu’ng nagkita but it’s actually finding yourself and how to move on.”
“It's not even their love story, it’s actually their love stories to their partners. It’s really about moving on no matter how long it takes kasi ang importante maka-move on ka kahit fetus steps pa ’yan sabi ng ni Tonyo (Empoy Marquez) sa ‘Kita Kita,’” she added.

She noted that when people love someone they shouldn’t expect anything in return.
“Basta ang importante kahit ano mang pagdaanan mo sa buhay at gaano katagal man ang paghahanap mo sa sarili mo, ang importante sa huli marating mo at masaya ka,” she said. “So ’yun naman talaga, at the end of the day kahit napakabagal mong mag-move on – 10 years man ’yang pagmu-move on na ’yan, ang importante naka-move on ka.”
The process
According to Sigrid, doing a film which focuses on two characters only was quite challenging. She had to make sure every scene is interesting that’s why she learned every detail – the story, blocking, transition, etc.
The director is happy her actors gave justice to their roles, Sigrid said JC and Ryza trusted her on how she wanted the look and feel of the film.
“When I do something kailangan I’m really dedicated to my work because that’s what I love. So ako ginagawa ko lang ’yung best ko since directing is my passion I have to make it good,” she said.
Sigrid’s next offering is the indie movie “I’m Perfect.”
