Iloilo City–The Philippine Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Workers Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (PACIWU-TUCP) is again proposing a new wage hike for workers in Western Visayas.

Johnson Cañete, regional director of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), said the group filed its wage petition before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) last Tuesday.

Ailyne Valaquio, the board’s acting secretary, told Manila Bulletin PACIWU-TUCP’s petition covers three different wage brackets.

The group is calling for a daily increase of R130 for those employed in a company with less than 10 workers, and R150 for companies with more than 10 workers.

The present daily minimum wage in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental range from R271.50 to R323.50.

Valaquio said the board may take up PACIWU-TUCP’s petition next month since it already had its monthly meeting last Monday, before the petition\s submission.

Wages in Western Visayas were last raised in March 2017.
