Half-naked teen nabbed after tossing illegal drug paraphernalia in street

A teenager was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tossed illegal drug paraphernalia in a street in Mandaluyong City.

Police identified the suspect as Honey Galang, 19, of Barangay Plainview, Mandaluyong City.

According to authorities, officials of Barangay Plainview patrolling along Martinez Street in Barangay Plainview at around 3 a.m. when they saw the suspect walking around the area half-naked, which is a violation of the city ordinance.

After the officials issued Galang a ticket for his 'half-naked' violation, the suspect reportedly threw a coin pouch, making the officials suspicious and prompting them to check it.

A small plastic sachet of suspected shabu was reportedly discovered inside the pouch, and led to Galang's arrest.

The suspect is detained at Mandaluyong City Police station and will be charged with possession of illegal drugs. (Gabriel Agcaolili)

Motorcycle collision results in rider’s death

A motorcycle rider was killed after colliding with another motorcycle that hit a lamppost during the wee hours today in Marikina City.

Police said the victim, identified as Ryan Lorca Manzana, 28, of 105 Cityland III, VA Rufino, Makati City, was riding a Yamaha Mio motorcycle with plate number ND 96316 when he collided with a Honda wave motorcycle with plate number KM 6373 upon reaching the curved portion of Duplex compound at Champaca II Street, Barangay Fortune, Marikina City at around 12 midnight.

Initial investigation showed that the Honda motorcycle was traversing the southbound lane of Champaca II street ahead of the Yamaha motorcycle when the former initially hit the pavement, then the lamppost in the sidewalk.

Police reports said the Honda motorcycle kept moving for a few minutes before it fell to the ground with its occupants.

The rider of the Yamaha motorcycle, who was closely behind the Honda motorcycle, fell out of balance before falling into the sidewalk beside the Honda motorcycle's riders, police said.

Rescuers who responded to the scene declared Manzana, the Yamaha rider, dead on the spot. His body was immediately brought to Bonita Memorial Homes.

Meanwhile, the riders of the Honda motorcycle sustained only minor injuries. (Carizza Ibañez)

Over P500,000 worth of illegal drugs seized from 8 drug personalities in separate drug ops in QC

More than P500,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized from eight alleged drug personalities in separate drug sting operations in Quezon City over the weekend.

Latest arrested drug suspects of the joint operatives of Quezon City Police District Drug Enforcemenf Unit, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were identified by QCPD chief Guillermo Eleazar as Ruben Gorospe, 30, and Celso Bravante, 32, both of Barangay Botocan.

The two were nabbed in a buy-bust operation at around 3:30 a.m. today on Amorsolo Street in Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City.

The bust was carried out after the anti-illegal drug unit of QCPD received reports about the involvement of the two in illegal drug operations.

Fourteen sachets of shabu weighing about 50 grams with an estimated street value of P250,000 were seized from the two.

It was learned that Gorospe had been arrested also for illegal drugs in 2007 but his case was dismissed by the court. He also managed to escape a previous buy bust in October 2017. Since then, he was put on continuous monitoring and surveillance by DDEU as he continued his drug peddling activities in his barangay and nearby areas.

Two hours prior to Barangay UP Campus bust, same operatives with Batasan Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit trapped in a drug sting the suspect identified by the police as Allan Banie, 29, a resident of Barangay Payatas.

A police officer posed as a buyer and bought P1,000 worth of drugs from the suspect near the latter's residence on Milagrosa Street, Sitio Palayan, Area A, Barangay Payatas around 1:15 a.m.

Upon handing the marked money, authorities immediately collared Banie. Confiscated from him were 11 sachets of shabu with estimated worth of P110,000, some drug paraphernalia, and a notebook containing a list of names of his customers.

Meanwhile, four were rounded up in a drug sting in Masambong Police Station (PS-2), who were identified as Arlen Jumawan, 38; Pearljoy Orde, 27; Bam-bam Polgo, 32; Noemy Uy, 20; and Arvic Ehiño, 30, all residents of Barangay Bagong Pag-asa.

Operatives conducted the operation at about 2 p.m. today on Alcoy Street, Sitio San Roque II, Barangay Bagong Pag-asa when a confidential informant tipped off the police on the illegal drug activities of the suspects.

Eight sachets of shabu, and a caliber .38 revolver were seized from the suspects.

Police also found out that Jumawan, known as "Toto," was recently released from the custody of Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in October 2016 for a case of double murder in September last year.

Drug-related charges will filed against the suspects, while Jumawan was charged with violation illegal possession of firearm and ammunitions. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan)
