K-pop girl group 2NE1 has officially disbanded after seven years in the business.
YG Entertainment announced at 4 p.m. today that after 2NE1’s exclusive contract expired last May and with Minzy leaving the group, “we have decided to formally disband 2NE1 at the end of a long discussion with the remaining members.”
“2NE1 has been a group representing YG for the past 7 years so it’s difficult to say how very sorry YG is but it is difficult to continue the activities. Instead of anticipating 2NE1’s promotions, we decided to pursue their solo activities,” the agency added.
Last May, The agency announced that both Dara and CL have signed solo contracts with them.
“We really appreciate the fans in Korea and abroad who loved 2NE1 and their music,” YG Entertainment added.
