Various skin issues are one of the common concerns that affect people of all ages. These conditions can go from mild to severe if not properly treated. Fortunately, with advancements in the skincare and healthcare industries, different skincare options can now effectively address and manage a wide range of skin issues, especially those with sensitive skin.

For most Filipinos, it is important to have not only high-quality skincare products but also science-backed formulations for various skin concerns. As more people become aware and mindful of their skin health, many have realized the sensitivities of each skin concern. Consumers nowadays do not just look for what works best for them but also for products that are gentle, effective, safe, and dermatologically tested.

Because of that, Cetaphil, the dermatologist-recommended skincare brand, in collaboration with Watsons and SM Beauty, announces the comeback of the National Healthy Skin Mission this year. With the mission to address various sensitive skin issues, Cetaphil continues to formulate science-backed skincare products, together with Watsons and SM Beauty, as sources of trusted products that consumers look forward to. In line with that, the Skin Academy, an event that focuses on the science behind sensitive skin care and aims to educate the public on the crucial role of 15 essential ceramides in maintaining health, was launched at SM Makati on August 5.

Cetaphil executives, along with Watsons and SM Beauty representatives, and new brand ambassador, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, unveiled the new home of the Skin Academy for the entire month of August. This immersive booth experience explores the scientific aspects of sensitive skin care where it introduces the latest research and advancements on effective skincare routines. It also aims to educate consumers on each ingredient of their skincare products.

The Skin Academy will also have skin experts on hand who engage with the public during interactive sessions where they share practical tips to keep skin healthy together with the roster of Cetaphil products, such as the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance, Cetaphil Baby, Cetaphil Pro-AD and BENZAC. These products help achieve up to 10 times multiple skin hydration after first use, showcasing the brand’s continuous commitment to science-backed skincare solutions.

"Our goal is to empower consumers with knowledge about the importance of boosting your 15 essential ceramides to maintain a healthy skin barrier, along with the science behind caring for sensitive skin," said Mark Sarmiento, Business Unit Head of Galderma Philippines, during the launch of the Skin Academy.

This year’s National Healthy Skin Mission also promotes the important role of the 15 essential ceramides in achieving and maintaining a healthy skin barrier. Improved overall skin health and function require a healthy moisture barrier, as this protective layer acts as the skin’s first line of defense against pollution and harmful microorganisms that can damage the skin. Well-hydrated skin with an intact barrier not only performs better but also appears smoother and more supple. Additionally, a healthy skin barrier aids in the natural healing process of damaged skin.

A wide range of Cetaphil products infused with 15 essential ceramides also boost sensitive skin, and consumers can now get enough moisture and hydration that their skin needs. The brand’s combination of Glycerin, Panthenol, and Niacinamide provides superior hydration, enhancing the skin's ceramide production and forming the foundation for healthy skin.
