Maynilad wraps up initial phase of Valenzuela sewerage project

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. has completed the installation of an initial 11.6 kilometers of new sewer lines in Valenzuela City.

In a statement, Maynilad said the newly installed sewer lines, located along McArthur Highway in Valenzuela, will expedite the delivery of sewerage services to its customers in the area.

The project allows Maynilad to collect the wastewater produced by around 190,000 customers in barangays Karuhatan, Malinta, Marulas, and parts of Maysan.

The collected wastewater is then conveyed to Maynilad’s Valenzuela Water Reclamation Facility for proper treatment before being discharged into water bodies.

To minimize disruption to traffic along McArthur Highway, Maynilad utilized a "trenchless" method when laying the sewer lines.

This technique involves inserting flexible yet sturdy pipes through an insertion point rather than excavating trenches on the road for pipe placement.

The initial 11.6 kilometers of sewer lines are a part of Maynilad's planned 28-kilometer sewerage system project in Valenzuela City.

The system will capture wastewater and transport it to the company's Valenzuela Water Reclamation Facility with a capacity of 60 million liters per day for treatment.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base.
