PLDT Inc. announced on March 7 that it will soon launch Digico, a centralized digital platform catered to serve the customers of the various companies under the Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) Group.
According to the company, Digico will enable the MVP Group to scale up its operations and integrate services that include bills payments and rewards.
Digico will be co-owned by PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc., Manila Electric Company (Meralco), and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
"For MVP Group and our many partners, your growth is a priority for us. Digico wil serve as catalyst that could unclock new revenue streams and drive incremental value. For our customers, we are committed to a future where every Filipino can get the convenience and service they deserve," said PLDT Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Each company will first curate their own data and make their own data platform before they are able to share, Pangilinan added.
PLDT Senior Vice President (SVP) and Leadership Transition Officer Ricky Vargas described Digico as a "gold mine" wherein the assets of MVP Group are put in one platform using analytics that can help engage with the customers and understand them better to yield more statisfactory experiences.
"We are the only group, if I may say, in the ecosystem today that can hopefully bring that about, and that experience," said Ricky, citing MVP Group's businesses that encompass multiple aspects of people's daily lives from electricity via Meralco, roads and tollways via MPIC, internet network connection via PLDT and Smart, and digital banking through Maya.
PLDT Chief Legal Counsel Atty. Marilyn Victorio-Aquino
"Our emphasis is to democratize or make available our services across the world to the various customers of the MVP Group."
For the customer, Victorio-Aquino said that they will be requested to consent in order to access the services of the other companies, in compliance with the Data Privacy Law.
