WTFu by MR. FU: Inside out

At a glance

  • Monnar’s recent works are part of the "Inside Out" exhibit organized by the Art Circle Gallery at the SM Megamall’s Art Center. (yang art circle na yan ang dahilan ng paka-adik ko sa paintings!) The Monnar masterpieces here are different from his usual pieces. He experimented with new styles but maintained his unquestionable creativity. (walang kakupas kupas ang koya ko!)

Mr. FU at the 'Inside Out' exhibit

My very first artwork from contemporary artist, Monnar, is entitled "Radio Broadcaster." I immediately bought it when I saw it in a gallery because it mirrors my career as a radio jock. (taray may budget si bakla!) I eventually made Monnar pieces part of my collection. (kumu-kulutura kunwari!) I like his style as an artist. (makulay, mabusisi, malikot ang imagination!) He is the son of legendary artist Manuel Baldemor (na super favorite ko!) but he did not duplicate his dad’s paintings. He has his own trademark. (di ko lang natanong if close sila kay Leandro Baldemor!)

Mr. FU with Oliver Marquez

I also had a short chat with his fellow artist, Oliver Marquez. (di ko rin natanong if close sila ni Melanie!) He used to paint pop art featuring local artists like Tito Vic and Joey, Parokya ni Edgar and many others. (wala ako sa list ha!) He later on ventured into identical women as subject. (yung kasing ganda ko ganyan!) But for this exhibit he showed his versatility with his collection of abstract art. (lahat kaya nyang gawin, kaya wag kayong ano dyan!)

'Radio Jock' by Monnar

Other artists in the exhibit are Joel Mahilum, Elias Pernecita Jr, Jaime Nepomuceno, and Chris Pizarro (na naka-chika ko rin at sana maharbatan ko ng painting!) "Inside Out" focuses on the artists’ inner expressions and unrevealed talents. Art Enthusiasts can visit the art center until May 30, 2023. (may time pa ako para makaharbat!)

'Daylight Daydream' by Monnar

Attending art exhibits is therapeutic for me. It feeds my heart and soul. (wow pa-deep ha!) But what is memorable about Inside Out, is the generosity and support of The Art Circle Gallery team who gave me an art gift (paandar!) and Monnar and Oliver who surprised me with their artworks. (pina-deliver sa bahay bilang regalo!) Monnar sent me his piece featuring a DJ, (muntik akong maiyak, naalala ko yung 15 years ko sa radyo!) while Oliver made a “Mr. FU and company” painting with a dedication : “Marami ka napapaligaya, kaya ikaw ang Clown namin. Meganon?!” (ay tawagin ang Boyoyong Clowns!) Thank you so much! (kinikilig talaga ako pag may bago akong artwork! As in!)
