
Late Saturday, social media was flooded with reports of hacking incidents in which funds were transferred from BDO to one or more Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP) accounts without the permission of the bank's owners and depositors. Amounts ranging from P25,000 to P50,000 were transferred from BDO to one or more UB accounts.

In response to the ongoing cyberattack on account holders' bank accounts, BDO Unibank issued an official statement earlier today, December 12. They also shared on social media a reminder for bank customers who use their mobile app to change their passwords immediately to protect themselves from hackers.
Following recent social media complaints, Gov. Benjamin E. Diokno of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) stated on Sunday that the BSP will "ensure the safety and integrity of the financial system" as well as the protection of financial consumers.
