The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS), released a microsite that features academic resources on environmental conservation and climate literacy that the public and private institutions can use for their classes. It involves lesson plans, videos, presentational and reading materials, and reference guides.
The learning materials compiled on the microsite were from partners from the public and private sectors. This was created to educate more students and teachers about climate change and to draw more interest towards taking environmental efforts on the climate crisis.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines has contributed modules about climate change to the said microsite. The organization supports the DepEd’s endeavor to make climate change education accessible to the public in support of Republic Act 9512: National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008. In addition, they have also been conducting workshops and activities to raise awareness on this topic among the members of the academe.
