Last week, the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) held a webinar on social media (socmed) and ethical issues. Tech law expert Atty. Edsel Tupaz headlined the seminar via Zoom titled “Ethics Chasing Technology” which was presented by the FINEX Ethics Committee.

Banning the POGOs

Last week, the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) joined seven other business organizations in calling for a total ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs). The joint statement supported the nationwide ban that Finance Secretary Ralph Recto and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan recommended.

Last Tuesday, the Office of the Ombudsman issued an order suspending the provincial governor and eight municipal mayors of Bohol for six months along with 60 other public officials over the  construction of a controversial resort at the world-famous Chocolate Hills.

Fostering economic cooperation to boost FDIs

Filipino exporters and importers are invited to participate in the 136th Canton Fair slated for Oct. 15 to Nov. 4, 2024 at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in southern China’s Guangdong Province. The venue at Pazhou Island in Guangzhou City is considered the largest convention center in the world with an area of 1.13 million square meters. It also has 45 exhibition halls with a total leasable space of 620,000 square meters.
