PRO-Cordillera maintains police deployment for new year


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police have maintained the deployment of 1,247 lawmen to secure the new year in the Cordillera region.

Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr. said Christmas and the nine-day Misa de Gallo from Dec. 16 to 25 in the Cordillera were generally peaceful.

The Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division said 22 crimes were reported in the region, 34 fewer than the 56 in the same period last year.

Peredo said they remain on high alert status and coordinating with the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Department of Health to implement safety measures to prevent firecracker-related injuries and property damage during the new year.

Meanwhile, 50 Cordillera police officers have completed the Criminal Investigation Course.

They received Certificates of Completion and CIC pins during their graduation at the PRO-Cordillera Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on Dec. 27.

Police Col. Julio Lizardo, chief regional staff and keynote speaker, commended graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and adaptability in their careers. 

He encouraged them to pursue further training to enhance the knowledge and skills they acquired.
