"They were advised to visit the PNP General Hospital to undergo check-up for any signs of respiratory ailment after days of deployment in Taal eruption-affected areas," PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said. After the eruption on Jan. 12, Camp Crame policemen under the National Headquarters Reactionary Standby Support Force were deployed to replace local policemen who were initially tasked to evacuate local residents and secure various communities covered with ash. On Wednesday, President Duterte said the policemen must be pulled out because the situation has begun to normalize and to protect them from further exposure to ash. Gamboa ordered the pullout on Wednesday night. All other policemen deployed in eruption-affected areas are also expected to undergo medical check-up. “In compliance with the order of the President, our Chief PNP, General Gamboa, has immediately directed for the pull-out of the 2,000 strong NHQ PNP RSSF from Batangas effective tonight (Wednesday), with all members to report back to their respective units tomorrow and return to normal duties," Banac said in a statement. Despite the pullout, Banac said there will be enough police forces from the regional police in the affected areas. “Local police units will continue to provide security and assist in relief operations in all areas in Batangas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in coordination with the local government units," Banac said.
