Following a road mishap involving 14 vehicles on Osmena Highway in Makati City, netizens are calling for the phase out of old passenger buses that are no longer roadworthy.
The driver of the bus that rammed 11 motorcycles, a car, and another bus claimed that the brakes of his passenger bus failed while travelling along Osmena Highway on Friday (September 4) morning.
"Those ordinary buses are really old, majority not road worthy. problem with the owner and with the regulator, " Facebook user Armand Aragones Rbolado commented.
Facebook user Christian Victor Ibay questioned why such buses are still allowed.
"Old buses should not be allowed to travel, most of them are already malfunctioning," said Facebook user Amma Hong Seda.
Makati Police chief Col. Oscar "Jack" Jacildo said they are still awaiting the results of the medical test and drug test on Marlon Nacaytona.
At least 11 persons were injured in the incident, including an officer of the Philippine Coast Guard, Jacildo said.
The victims were rushed to Ospital ng Makati, Makati Medical Center, and St. Luke’s Global.
