Ex-MCTC judge gunned down in Siargao Island

BUTUAN CITY – A former trial court judge was killed by an unidentified gunman in Purok 6, Barangay Del Carmen, in Del Carmen town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province.

Initial reports showed that the victim, Exequil L. Dagala, 48 was sleeping with his son inside their house when the bonnet-wearing suspect barged into their house past midnight Friday.

Lt. Col. Christian L. Rafols ll, chief of the Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) citing field reports said the suspect entered the room and shot the victim several times in the head using a caliber .45 pistol resulting in his instant death.

Dagala’s son was not hurt.

After the incident, the suspect boarded a vehicle with no plate and fled.

Dagala was a former Municipal Circuit Trial Court judge in Dapa-Soccoro, Siargao Island.

Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr., has ordered an island-wide manhunt for the suspect.
