Many of her supporters believe Maricris Garcia’s first-ever major solo concert is long overdue yet she herself thinks it’s just the “perfect time” for it.

At a press conference for the concert “MAR1CR1S,” the former La Diva member said she believes it’s according to God’s will.
“So many people ask, ‘Why only now? What took you so long to do a concert?” she related. “Actually, I’m not the kind of person who wants to rush into things. 11 years may be long for some people but for me, it feels like it’s just yesterday. I believe in God’s plan; if it’s meant to be, then good. Thankfully, He finally gave it to me.”
Mariciris revealed she originally plan to hold the concert September last year, in time for her 10th anniversary in show business and coinciding with her 30th birthday celebration. However, she opted to prioritize her wedding.

At the concert, the Kapuso will look back on her journey in the industry; from being a kontesera to becoming a La Diva member and the voice behind several teleserye theme songs.
“The show is going to be more of a storytelling type. I am going to share all the experience I’ve gone through My musical influences, as well as things about my personal life.”
Maricris also promised concertgoers will see a different side of her, not the usual biritera. She will be joined by the industry's best singers, including Nar Cabico, Mark BautIsta, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
Asked to cite her career highlights, Maricris acceded.
These include her duet with Janno Gibbs and Ogie Alcasid. Also, when she, along with former La Diva members Aicelle Santos and Jonalyn Viray, sang the Philippine National Anthem in one of Senator Manny Pacquiao’s boxing fight.
Asked what lesson she has learned, the singer said, “It’s not always easy to go up there. Everything is not easy. You encounter struggles and trials along the way, but you have to be strong. Courage helps when you fight for your dream.”
“MAR1CR1S” is on Sept. 28 at the Teatrino in Greenhills.
