The local government of Pasig clarified on Wednesday, Jan. 22, that no announcement has been made yet regarding the schedule of the Katuwang sa Agarang Hanapbuhay (KAAGAPAY) program for this year, contrary to information that is currently circulating.
An incident in Barangay Pinagbuhatan where false information about a scheduled distribution under the program caused confusion and inconvenience among some residents of the area.
The local government said that the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is still currently processing the necessary requirements to conduct profiling for the program.
The program is an alternative employment initiative of the PESO, described as a “community-based package of assistance” that provides short-term employment and skills training to displaced workers and unemployed individuals.
The program includes temporary jobs such as street sweeping and skills training such as urban gardening.
Residents were advised to wait for the official announcements regarding the schedule which will only be released through the official Facebook page of the Pasig City Public Information Office.
It also reminded Pasigueños to always check the date of the posted announcements. A resident reported seeing a post on the official Facebook page about the same matter, mistakenly believing it to be an act of sabotage.
“Maaaring nag-up or lumabas muli sa inyong news feed yung old post tungkol sa application ng KAAGAPAY last year dahil posibleng may nag-react or nag-comment kaya po lumabas itong muli. Mangyaring i-check po palagi ang date posted. Hindi po kasi nagdedelete ng previous posts ang PIO for page transparency po. Maraming salamat po (An old post about last year’s KAAGAPAY application may have resurfaced on your news feed because someone possibly reacted or commented on it. We kindly ask you to always check the date when the posts were published. The PIO does not delete previous posts to maintain page transparency),” it said.
It also advised, “Pinapakiusap at pinapaalalahanan po ang lahat na ugaliing maging mapanuri sa mga nakikitang Facebook post at mga natatanggap na mensahe na may kinalaman sa mga programa ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig para maiwasan ang paglaganap ng maling impormasyon (Everyone is reminded to always verify the authenticity of Facebook posts and messages related to the programs of the Pasig City Government to prevent the spread of misinformation)."
