Dengue outbreak declared in Capiz


ILOILO CITY – The provincial government of Capiz declared a dengue outbreak on Friday, August 16.

A DENGUE outbreak was declared in Capiz on August 16.

Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro issued an executive order declaring the outbreak following findings of the Capiz Provincial Health Office (CPPO) that there were 1,386 cases, including three deaths, from January 1 to August 10

The province logged 187 new dengue cases in the 32nd morbidity week.

Dr. Alex Nolasco, provincial health chief, said the number of cases was 208 percent higher than the same period last year with only 450.

The Castro administration reiterated to local government unit health officials to implement the Department of Health (DOH) 4S strategy against dengue – search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation, and support fogging or spraying.
