Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan warned the senior citizens not to reproduce their senior identification cards.

The mayor also asked the senior citizens to advise the city government and surrender their government-issued identification cards if they will move to other cities, saying the law prohibits them from using two senior IDs issued in different cities.

The mayor made the call after Office of Senior Citizens' Affairs (OSCA) head Elinor Jacinto reported that some senior citizens photocopy their senior citizen IDs and then have them laminated.

The city government will issue them a free notarized cancellation which they can present to the local government of the city where they are transferring, so they can apply for a new OSCA ID.

"This is illegal reproduction," said Jacinto, adding that they will automatically confiscate ID once they confirmed that it is fake.

Jacinto reiterated that there is no reason for the elderly to choose living in other cities because it is only in Manila where senior citizens receive benefits such as monthly cash allowance, free birthday cake and free entry to movie houses and the Manila Zoo, and P100,000 worth of cash benefit for centenarians, among others.

During the weekly "Kalinga sa Maynila", the mayor directed the setting up of help desks that assist senior citizens with their needs such as free basic medicines, free medical check-ups, processing of senior IDs, and affidavits for lost IDs.

Kalinga sa Maynila is a fora regularly held by the mayor in the city barangays, wherein the heads of departments, bureaus and offices that are most sought after in Manila City Hall could directly address queries, complaints and requests from residents
