BALAYAN, Batangas – The cadaver of a suspected New People’s Army amazon was discovered in a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Malalay here on Wednesday morning, February 14.

Her decomposed remains were found by a worker.
Police said she was wearing a green T-shirt, black pants, a black upper garment, and slippers. Next to her was a backpack containing personal belongings.
An encounter between soldiers and communist rebels occurred in the area one week before Christmas Day last year.
Police have yet to confirm if she was a fatality in the gun battle where six NPA rebels and one soldier were killed.
Her body has been examined by police forensics probers and is stored in a funeral home in Balayan for identification by relatives.
