The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has distributed a total of P331 million worth of assistance to 4,770 workers affected by recent typhoons.in the Bicol region.
DOLE Bicol Regional Director Imelda F. Gatinao said the funds were distributed to the provinces of Camarines Sur and Albay through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program.
In Camarines Sur, P210 million was allocated for emergency employment, with P14.66 million already disbursed to 3,463 beneficiaries from municipalities such as Lupi, Milaor, Pasacao, and San Fernando.
Workers in these areas received P3,950 each for 10 days of community rehabilitation work, including clearing debris and sanitizing public spaces.
Meanwhile, P121 million was allocated in Albay for 1,307 workers engaged in projects such as street sweeping, public facility cleaning, and community gardening.
The cash assistance, also set at P3,950 per worker, was distributed during an event at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation.
Gatinao emphasized DOLE's commitment to rebuilding typhoon-affected areas and the importance of collective efforts in restoring the communities.
