Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of PCG-northern Negros Occidental, said that Joren Parochil, 22, and a 17-year-old boy went out to sea onboard a boat at 11 a.m. amid bad weather caused by tropical cyclone “Kristine” to remove a squid net.

However, they failed to return by 5 p.m., prompting the boat owner to call for assistance from the PCG to locate them.

The PCG asked nearby substations and shoreline barangays to be on the lookout for the boat and the two fishermen.

Benjamin said they requested an asset from the PCG national headquarters to help with search and rescue.

He said that BRP Kalanggaman and a patrol boat were deployed by the national headquarters to augment the SAR here and set to arrive  on Sunday, Oct. 27.
