8th ID troops deployed to Bicol for ‘Kristine’ operations

TACLOBAN CITY – The Army 8th Infantry "Stormtroopers" Division has deployed troops to Bicol to assist in recovery efforts from severe tropical storm “Kristine.”

Brig. Gen. Perfecto Peñaredondo, acting commander, said they are fully prepared to assist local government units in evacuation efforts, rescue operations, and the distribution of relief goods. 

He added that they are equipped with specialized rescue gear, transport vehicles, and essential medical supplies to ensure prompt aid delivery to affected communities. 

In close coordination with the Office of Civil Defense and local disaster response agencies, the 8th ID will focus on safety, security, and the prompt delivery of aid to affected communities, he said.

"As we deploy, our priority is safety – both for our troops and the communities we serve. We will work closely with local authorities, relief organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure a unified and effective response.”

One-hundred fifty personnel from the Philippine National Police, 16 from the Bureau of Fire Protection, and six from the Philippine Coast Guard were also deployed to Bicol for Kristine recovery efforts.
