Everyone just wants to get where they need to go—fast and efficiently. In Southern Luzon, that’s about to become a reality. The Ayala Greenfield Interchange is set to connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to key local roads, making commutes smoother and cutting down travel times. It’s designed to ease congestion and help people move more quickly through the region.

At the recent groundbreaking, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and Ayala Greenfield Development Corporation (AGDC) set this project in motion, with leaders from both the private and public sectors in attendance. SMC Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang, AGDC Chairman Joselito Campos, Jr., and Ayala Corporation and Ayala Land Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, along with government officials, gathered to mark the start of an initiative that promises more than just new infrastructure—it’s a gateway to economic opportunities and a foundation for Southern Luzon’s future growth.

Ang highlights that the partnership with Ayala Greenfield aims to expand the South Luzon Expressway to support long-term growth in the CALABARZON region. “We are proud to partner with Ayala on this project. This is part of SMC Infrastructure’s larger initiative to improve and expand our southern tollways network, particularly the South Luzon Expressway. By the end of the year, we expect to turn it into a 6 x 6-lane expressway. With this, we can better support and sustain the long-term growth of the CALABARZON region.”

The Ayala Greenfield Interchange will connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Toll Road 3 (TR3) to local roads, opening smoother routes to and from the STAR Tollway. As part of a larger infrastructure plan, it will make travel between Metro Manila, Alabang, and key destinations in Southern Luzon faster and more convenient.

Additionally, the gateway will facilitate smoother journeys between Sto. Tomas, Batangas and Lucena, shortening the trip from three hours to just 45 minutes once SLEX Toll Road 4 is completed.

However, this project isn’t only about convenience—it’s about fueling the region’s economic growth. With future expansions planned, including SLEX Toll Road 4 and TR5, the interchange will support CALABARZON’s long-term development, making the region more attractive to businesses and residents alike.

"We are not simply breaking ground on a new infrastructure project; we are laying the foundation for enhanced connectivity and growth, enriching the lives of the communities that we serve," said Ayala.

As the groundbreaking came to a close, the promise was clear: this interchange isn’t just a new road. It’s a symbol of progress, connecting communities and building a better future for Southern Luzon. Construction is set to begin in November 2024, paving the way for a new era of growth.
