Traslacion 2024: Official Do's and Don'ts

The local government of Manila and the Quiapo Church highly reminded devotees of do's and don'ts, days before Traslacion on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

One of the important reminders that Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and the Quiapo Church said is that devotees who will attend the mass should wear facemasks during the procession and maintain social distance for their safety against COVID-19.

 

 

Don'ts

 

Devotees are not allowed to climb the "andas" or the carriage of the Black Nazarene.

 

Devotees are advised not to push and climb onto the backs of other devotees to avoid hurting others.

 

Devotees are encouraged not to bring a big bag or a lot of stuff. If necessary, a transparent bag is the only one allowed, so authorities can easily inspect it.

 

Setting up a camping tent is also not allowed.

 

Devotees are also not allowed to carry alcoholic beverages, firearms, and any sharp things, such as knives.

 

The following are also prohibited during the procession:

 

  • Backpacks or bags; only if transparent
  • Hoodie or sweatshirt
  • Umbrella
  • Firecrackers or any pyrotechnic devices
  • Going to the event drunk
  • Cap or hat
  • Water tumbler

 

 

Do's

 

For those who will join but are not feeling well, as well as the kids, they should just wait on the side of the road for their safety.

 

Eat before the event begins to have enough energy during the Traslacion.

 

Devotees are allowed to throw their towels to wipe the black nazarene.

 

Do so properly and with the utmost care when carrying the lever and pulling the rope.

 

 

The Quiapo Church called on the devotees to follow the rules and let the image of the Black Nazarene be the highlight of the celebration.

 

Meanwhile, authorities said that illegal vendors are not allowed until the end of the event, after which they can return to their vending place on Jan. 10.
